Please come by and join us this Sat & Sun as the Federal Way Amateur Radio Club will be participating in the 24 hour, worldwide Amateur Radio Field Day 12:00pm 6/23 to 12:00pm-6/24 in the outdoor field at Funeral Alternatives. Governor Jay Inslee, proclaimed this Amateur Radio Week.

This event is a drill in disaster readiness, over 30,000 Ham Radio Operators from all countries will gather their equipment from home together and then in various locations reassemble it to simulate the nature of a disaster, thus having to create radio stations from very little. They supply their own battery and generator power and then starting at about 12:00pm an Saturday the 23rd until Sunday noon on the 24th they will begin transmitting. These amateurs participate in a contest in the spirit of worldwide fellowship.

So please come by on Saturday afternoon or evening and bring your family for a visit, and possibly have an opportunity to be “On The Air”. This event will be hosted in the outdoor field of the Funeral Alternatives of Washington compound located at 31919 6th Ave S, Federal Way, WA 98003. Come, visit and ask questions, learn in the event of a disaster how to communicate when phone lines and cells do not work.
